im a former 5.0 pony(owned 4 in the past) owner and recently purchased a 1991 Z28 off ebay. alot of the car is a mystery to me. im the 6th owner of the car and it has remained in florida all its entire life. originally came with a 305TPI auto. the car feels way peppy for a 305 and 2:73gears. the car has 169,000 miles and there isnt one oil leak or wet spot on the engine. not even the rear main seal is wet (yes the engine has oil in it). im thinkin the engine has been changed out.

*what color are the stock injectors for a 1991 305TPI? i know in ford land the #24 injectors are blue. the injectors on my engine are black with blue on the top of them.

Black with blue line is 19 lb. 305ci. injectors. Grey is 22 lb. 350 injectors.

 

If the injectors have a black body and a blue top, they aren't the original Multec injectors. (Fortunate for you)
Check to see if there is a part number on them and post it on the board. I'm sure someone will be able to tell you what they are.

Did the advertise it as a 305? Could be a nice steal if its a 350. Mine is a 350 fin f now, but if the car fell in the wrong hands and no-one realized i swtiched out the engine.. it does look like a stock 305 with headers. I would look on the block for #'s. Call up the previous owners if possible.

the injectors are black with the blue line at the top, so it appears thier #19's which point to a 305ci? strange, guess i need to pull the block numbers if i get a chance. i've never seen any engine with 169,000 miles run as strong as this one does, no knocks pings barks growls purrs, rattles smoke or anything. fire it up first thing and it goes right to 55lbs of oil pressure. 3yrs ago i owned a 1989 Iroc-Z28 w/L98. car was plagued with problems, i would get beat by a v6 mustangs. the car was in a accident before i bought it, and i could never get it right so i gave up on it. im very sure my 89' iroc didnt have grey injectors but it has been a few years and many cars since.

for a 3.87" bore 305TPI auto with 2:73 gears she sure is a screamer. i rode in a friends 1986 Iroc 305TPI auto w/shift kit and 3:42 gears and it wasnt even close to my 91 Z28. i feel the mods on my car arent that "significant" just basic level I and II bolt ons
