Oil Cooler removal Quick Question
I have searched the whole site and from what I gather......All I need to do is replace the two bolts in the bracket with the specified GM bolts and just screw the filter directly on??? I thought an adapter was needed to do this. Please help out guys....I just blew my oil for the SECOND time on the road and come to find out, the ridge that the gasket sits in is bent. I removed the cooler (I use Mobile One) and now I am at a crossroad.
If the above is true with the two bolts, can you give me a part number so that I can avoid the hassle of explaining to Dealership guy.
Thanks Again

No special bolts are needed. Pretty much any 5/16"-18x1" bolt will work just fine. If you want to be fancy a button head socket capscrew would be really slick. I always like a washer to protect the soft aluminum but you will most likely need a small OD AN style to fit.

Thanks bro........So I can use any 5/16 bolt. Even a hex headed one if need be??? I would like to get my car back on the road today and I am going to Walmart for Mobil one and filter. I will pick up some bolts. I still do not understand why changing the bolts are needed......But everyone says you moust....So I must.
I am just glad I do not need an adapter like the LT1's....I tell you one thing...Rerouting my cooler hose was SUPER EASY. It is like GM knew that you would someday delete the cooler
