complication of switching from 85 maf to 90+ SD

what all is involved in this swap? other then changing the harness and computer?

the burnoff module in my 85 went to ****,so im swapping over to SD,anyone know what all involved in this swap?

as far as i know,the harness,ecm,chip,and the knock sensor need to be changed?

as well as the adding of the map sensor and possibly changing the cts?

PLEASE GUYS,I NEED SOME QUICK HELP here.

i need this camaro runing reliable again.

and please dont tel lme to switch to the 86-89 style maf.

first off, i'd check out Mike Davis' website. he did the swap and documented it very well.

unfortunately, he went from the 870 to the 165 ecm and then from the 165 to the SD 730 ecm and you are going straight from 870 to 730 like I did. basically what i did after reading everything over thoroughly was i made an excel spreadsheet outlining the exact pin changes for both conversions and just put them in 3 columns. This made it alot simpler for me to go straight from the 870 to the 730 ecm like you are going to do.

also, you won't have to get a knock sensor if you solder a 3.9k ohm resistor inline on the knock sensor wire. the two specific pins you have to solder it on are listed on davis' website.

you don't have to get a new wiring harness either. just have to do some repinning of your wiring harness.
none of the sensors besides the knock sensor need changed. the only sensor you will HAVE to get is a map sensor.
