Injector O-Rings
Okay... this is probably a stupid and over-asked question... but here goes.
A Friend gave me a set of injectors which were flow matched, then put on an engine, which shortly died from other causes afterwards. He bought the whole engine, and kept anything good off it, the injectors were kept, then he gave them to me.
They are clean, and all test out fine as far as ohms. They look almost brand new... the only bad thing, they need O-Rings, since the ones they had were brittle and cracking or peeling, and they were missing some to begin with.
Question is, Can I just go to the Hardware store and buy the approperate size O-Rings, or do I really have to spend $20 bux on the O-Ring kit?
Do you think standard O-Rings will hold up to the heat and fuel, or will they break down and die quickly? Think they would hold up at all, just for temporary? Or should I quit trying to save money and buy the O-Ring Kit? I just want/need the 8 top and the 8 bottom O-Rings, which should be all the same anyways. Anyone have the specific GM Part Number and the price?
Thanks Guys!

Going to the hardware store and buying new o-rings for your injectors is not a good idea. 1. they would not be exactly the right size and 2. as you have mentioned, they are not specifically designed to hold up to the heat and fuel. Therefore they would go bad about the time (according to murphy's law) that you pull out of your drive way and get into heavy traffic. Go to autozone or advance auto parts and buy a good set of o-rings, they are not that expensive and will save you pain and grief in the long run.

Oriely's had the O-rings for 89 cents per injector with both top and bottom O-rings included per set. I don't have the boxes any more, or I'd give you the part number... they were a Barg Warner part though.
