Yo,

I was at work the other day and was playing around trying to figure out my silly little problem with what I believe to be false knock.

Anyway, I decided to try to test the sensor and/or knock module. Maybe my little cheesy test won't work, but here's what I did.

I hooked up scanner so I could see knock counts and spark retard. I turned key on, of course if scanner is working, and tapped the block near the sensor. I would have thought I would at least have gotten a knock count if not any spark retard. I got nothing from either. I tried tapping the block in various places with varying things to make different tones. Nothing.

Does this sound right to any of you? Should I not have gotten some amount of knock count? I think I should...

I'd have thought you would have showed a knock...infact I belive the test you did is in my Helms manual.

 

Well, I thought it would have worked as well. I am glad to hear that the test may even be an appropriate procedure. I had talked to a few other people about it and they all thought it should show something too.
