Just an FYI to help your spelling in the future. I'm sure I forgot some, but you'll get the hang of it eventually. Spelling isn't too difficult. It just takes a little practice. Some observations...

You are willing to shell out additional $$$ for Edelcrap runners, but you cannot spend the $10 for a new keyboard?

Why don't you buy the carb manifold and 750cfm for the 350, learn how to tune, break into the low 14s , and then carry that knowledge over to your magical 406? If you cannot tune a carb, you have no business wasting people's time begging them to fix your problems when you hack together a TPI or Stealthram

Second only to learning some grammar and spelling skills, you should really work on your manners! Didn't HS start back up yesterday... pay attention this semester. Oh yeah, and do a search for this topic before asking the same questions YET AGAIN...

My GTA has 158k on it and ran a 14.8 in September with about a 75* ambient temp on Ecsta 711s with a 2.2s 60ft time while throwing a SES light [EGR]. I'm getting Alston SFCs, Spohn CrMo tubular LCAs, and probably a set of SLP siamesed runners put on in the spring. Hoping to crack off a 14.3 or less.

I can always wish. :-D

This may be off topic but I do not know what it works out to for the quarter mile but my
88 GTA Notchback with 185,000 miles on it with the only mod being a flowmaster muffler on it ran 9.47 in the 1/8 mile.
I seen several C5 corvettes that were running 9.6x and up.
They did have be on MPH though by about 1-2 mph.

As far as the 400 goes just look at ski-down-it or a couple others combo. I know he comes on this forum as well as the Corvetteforum and has gone 11.0x and I think it is Corky that has gone 10.9x in the 1/4 mile with a 400 and a superram setup.
I know this is not a LTR setup but it is an upgrade for TPI and shows how potent this combo can be.

Hope this helps

Cool thank's that sound's plenty fast but all i want is like mind ro low 13's....

BTW a 9.40's in the 1/8th mile is like low 15's high 14's in the 1/4 mile whitch is right on for the car and the miles...

To get your 1/8 mile converted to 1/4 mile you simply take your 1/8 mile time and multiply it by 1.56

9.3:1 C/R.

L-98's cam.

stealth Ram intake.

L-98 Head's.

and Call it good....

It ain't going to take much engine with 3.73's behind it.

no, don't do that. Those parts are mismatched. the stealth ram is for high rpm power and the L98 cam and heads are for low rpm power. So if you combine those parts you will have an engine that makes power nowhere. If you want to go very basic, get an LT4 HC and ported aluminum vette heads. Then you will make at least decent power.

Can you stuff an LB-9 under the stealth ram???

Can you stuff the L-98 under the stealth ram???

I'm going with 255's with 3.73 gear's.....

I'm looking for High drivablity low14 high 13 car.

With out stuffing alor of money into it as it is onlu an 87 so it's old and has little to no resell value.......

i'm running 255/55R16 tires with 3.73 gear's and the stock 700R4 with filter kit shift improver and trick shift Fluid.

so i'm Just trying to figure out what would be the best combo to stuff in front of this to get low14's high13's.

thats going to last be medium cheap, very abuseable.

it'll get oil changes and tune up's but i got heavy footand a small wallet at this point.

So why are we talking about all this? L98s run low to mid 14s all the time, you have no need for a 400, stealth ram, or cam swap. You just need bolt-ons, no major engine work. LTR TPI will get you where you want easily.

Just do a good tune up, throw on some headers, exhaust, torque converter and some better tires...BANG low 14s high 13s all day. Put on a Nitrous kit on top of that and you have a 12 sec car when you feel like it.

Right Now my "Great fantastic bad ***" L-98 is only pulling 16.11's on the G-tech man.........

it's got Issue's it's time for the L-98 to be chucked in the Dumpster and start over with some new steel.

New steel

I'd rather start with a healthy engine then trying to wake up and old grey race horse......

Rebuild the L98, bump the compression a bit, maybe a bit bigger cam to stay away from needing custom chips. With bolt ons youll run 13 all day

Well ya That is a possablity.

But for this year all it's getting is a tune up maybe the gear amd tire swap Depend's on how the Money Flo's.....

I don't plan on building an engine till like winter 05.....

cause i got the other Project GTA Draining money Right now....

I'll rebuild this one if it Don't throw a Rod in the next summer or 2.
But Me and 350's Don't Seem to last long together...

then again me TPI Don't last either so maybe now that i have TPI & 350 together it might last theo whole 2 negitive's = a postive thing ya know.

I've had an LB-9 once engine was fine it was the TPI systen that kept messing up.

I've had several 350's and they all blew up wothon a summer.

so maybe i found the right combo for me maybe....
now all i have to do is fine tune it.

Hopfully

And you think a similar 400 will last longer? Just build the 350 for cheaper. High 13s aren't nearly as hard as you make it sound. Your current L98 should give you at least high 14s, you just have to figure out what is wrong with it, i'm pretty sure it is not mechanical. And if it is electronic, you will have the same problems with the 400.

by the way the stealth ram uses all the same electronic as TPI so if you had problems with TPI you will have problems with the SR.

Every 406 i have still like's like it did when it was first built.

i've went threw 11-350's in my life,All died with Rod's threw the block and no they were Over reved or under maintained.

1966 Chevy C-30 3300Rpm@67mph.
well 9-350's wern't over reved or under maintained. they revlimiter's set at 4250rpm. But them where crate motor's 350Ho's.they lasted about 30,000miles.

The 406 that is in the truck i built my self an kicked the Revlimiter up to 4,750RPM.Currently has 175,000 miles on it .

1981 K-5 Blazer beater truck rebuilt 350 only 45,000miles on engine when i got it. it was knocking on 3 Rod's by 75,600miles.
But it got beat it seen 5,000RPM's a few time's. Junked truck.

1991 GTA L-98 350TPI died at 137,800miles,Dude swapped in a LO-5 350TBI 700 miles more then the L-98.
I bought at 172,000miles it was knocking at 190,500miles.
swaping L)-5 for 406TBI.

then we have the 1987 GTA L-98 running 1.6 second's slower then it should with 125,000miles on it.

it it was poorly MainTained and highly beaten Not By me.....

The 1986 S-10 Blazer has a 406 with 145,400miles on it
and it has a 700r4 and 4.56 gear's with 235/70R15 Pursuit radail's. off a squad. this 406 has seen 6,000rpm's a few times...

2 out of 12 350's lived long lives.

1 out of 12 is still alive.......

3 out of 12 wasn't bad......

But you are right the 400 could go in the 87 GTA and only live 500 miles.......

But in My case's it woyld less likely for the 400 to die before the 350.

But i'm not Ripping on 350's Just cause i ah bad luck with them don't mean there junk.

I just distrust them is all...

The L-98 I'm sure has plenty of issue's hiden from the naked eye. thoise issue will found and fixed around May when the snow goes away...
