tpi cam for a 350

im building a 350 motor w/ these parts listed and am having toruble w/ cam selectiom please throw in your 2 cents!!!!!
stock crank
pm rods
coated hyper. pistons should be 9.5 to 1 comp
vette( 88) tpi 350 heads slight port and polished stock valves
intake is ported to match heads
plenum has been ported
stock tb for now but will upgrade to a 58mm
airfoil
large maf sensor
knn filter
MSD 6A
taylor 8mm wires
headers
3 inch pipe
flowmasters
duel exhaust tips
i know this is all pretty common stuff but the delima is that its going into my 89 silverado p/u so i need good torque and good mid range..its also a driver so i dont want to have to use premium gas. i also really dont want to have to buy a chip really either..
the police interceptor cam for these motors is suppose to be really good and doesnt need ecm chip or premium gas to run.thats what i had in my camaro and it ran good but dont know how it will work in the heavyier truck..and that was a few years back and i dint know if a better grind might be out now.
ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE WELCOME!

Going into your pickup I would opt for the ZZ4 cam. This is a good match for the Vette heads but you might have to change the springs because the intake has a .474 lift and the exhaust has a .510 lift. The LSA is 112, the intake duration is 208@.050 and the exhaust is 221@.050. You can find this cam for $100 and on Ebay brand new for $135. It has good manners and people are knocking down 375HP with it. Assuming you have a roller cam block. Allen

I second 89GTA's recommendation. A lot of guys are running the ZZ4 cam with good results and they all claim that it runs fine with the stock ecm programming. I'm also rebuilding an L98 350 and this is the cam I chose for mine. You will need to upgrade your valve springs to handle the additional lift. I bought the stock zz4 springs from gm, but you can also get the crane conical springs that taper down to fit in the stock size spring pocket. They also say to make sure and have the retainer to valve guide clearance checked to make sure it's adequate for the .510 exhaust lift. I notice you were planning on putting a 58mm throttle body on. This would be a complete waste of money. It's not necessary. Even if you did upgrade to a larger throttle body, I'd only upgrade to the 52mm. The 58mm requires extensive porting of the plenum and is overkill for almost any street motor. The stock 48mm throttle body is more than adequate for your application. GM runs the 48mm on the ramjet 502 with no problems.

I plan on using the ZZ4 cam in my TPI 350 Trans Am. I purchased a take-off from Sallee-Chevrolet for $95 plus $10 shipping. Here is the website it is listed on:
