Good cam for later down the road?

Wasn't sure which board to ask this in...

I know my 305 has got a peanut cam in it, so when I have the money to have a new cam installed I was wondering which to get beings I know nothing about choosing that kind of stuff.

If it helps, I will have a low restriction exhaust before I do this, and probably so other mods to get the air flowing better...

Could you include the lift numbers and all that stuff too?

Thanks.

Come on now someone has got to know

I've searched the boards for an answer and haven't found anything.

I need someone to explain to me how to awaken my 305 to put me in my seat better than it does. With regard to the cam, I need to know everything that is involved in the replacing of it and all that. What I mean is what else besides the camshaft itself will I need, such as rockers and stuff. Also, does cam replacement require pulling the engine or do I just need to take the front clip off of the car and the radiator and stuff?

Any other mods that will make my car go faster besides exhaust is appreciated as always.

not sure what your intensions are for the motor/car but overall i like the gm hott cam it pulls nicely,as well as strong.i have installed this cam in 8 motors thus far and only one was a 305 and it pulled very hard as well, especially if you have a stick-shift automatics will benifit from a 2200-2500stall,3.23s are fine but will be more fun with 3.42s-3.73s.......best of all the cam only costs 180.00 from scoggin-dickey(sdpc2000.com).........

My intentions for the car are this:

Mainly street fun if anything...not really concerned about the track. When/if I do race in the city I will typically be racing with turns, and on occasion straight line down a few lights. Theres rarely someone who will want to challenge me just because my city is overrun by civics and the like. The people who would want to run with me are mainly the ford guys. I'll be putting some 3.23's or 3.42's in the rear later on once I figure out how the whole correcting the speedometer works. I just know a cam is needed to wake mine up.
