stealth ram question

i have an 87 firebird with a 355 tpi and a 5-speed. my mods are comp cams xe262hr, 3 inch hooker supercomp catback with no cat and a cut out, homeade ram air, and 24# accel injectors with afpr, also my rearend gears are 3.08's. i ordered the hsr intake with the adjustable regulator and i also ordered 24# svo injectors. i was wondering how it going to run with the new setup. right now i cant pull 4800 rpm and everytime u punch it runs different sometimes it bogs sometimes it goes. my other question is should i change my cam to go along with the intake and if so what would be a good cam i dont plan on going past about 6,000 rpm. i am also ordering the hooker supercomp shorties. and i am thinking about the afr 190 or maybe the 195's later. any feedback will be helpful.

I would change the cam to go with the intake otherwise you wont see much gain. Which cam? Everyone has their own preference. Match it to the intake. If you dont want to pull over 6000rpm then thats the cam you look for. Doing a search on which cam is best for HSR will yield more answers for you. Your stock intake will not pull beyond 4800 as you have found out. I believe you will also have a hood clearance issue. Cant remember tho. Lack of brain cells. Hope this helps.

Yes, firebirds require hood clearancing for the stealthram. You will also want to get rid of those 3.08 gears! The stealthram, or more specifically, the new powerband of your motor will work the best with a shorter gear ratio (at least 3.55). you want to be able to spin the motor up to your powerband as quickly as you can, unlike the LTR powerband where you have to try and keep your motor from revving too fast, thereby eclipsing the usable powerband.

Remember, going fast isn't about throwing parts together, it's making those parts work together...
