It sounds like your MAF sensor has hit the south 40 for good. You can take it off and spray it with some electric contact cleaner and see if that helps it. If it doesn't, then it is time to get a new one. I would also check the MAF sensor relay and the MAF burn-off relay. You can test to see if it is the MAF sensor by disconnecting it and starting the engine. If the engine runs smoothly like it should, then the MAF sensor is your problem.

That doesn't mean that they are still good. You should still check by disconnecting the MAF sensor and see if the engine smooths out. Check all the wiring for these items.
Code 33 = MAF SENSOR circuit (GM/SEC HIGH)
Code 33 = MAF SENSOR circuit (GM/SEC HIGH)

Okay Demon138,
Code 34 is the opposite of code 33, while code 33 = MAF sensor circuit (GM/SEC HIGH). Code 34 = MAF sensor circuit (GM/SEC LOW). No, I don't take you as being sarcastic and I can understand you being curious. There are just two sides to the codes posted here, usually if there are two codes posted for the same system. The odd number code will be for the high side and the even number will be for the low side. Hope this gives you a better understanding of the trouble codes. You should also remember that Chilton's deals with all 3rd gens from 1982 - 1992. The TBI models in 1989 used the MAP sensor and starting in 1990, the TPI's also used the MAP. Your car, being a TPI, used a MAF sensor unless you switched over to a MAP sensor system.
