Cheap torque?
Are there any good cheap or free things I can do to my TPI to pickup some lowend torque? I am running a stock MAF TPI on a stockish 350.
I already have a K&N cone filter and an airfoil. I have read about porting the plenum and runners but will this help low end at all? Do I just clean them up with the dremel and smooth everything out?
What else? Thanks

Axle/Gears: 3.27, just works
port the plenum, base, advance timing, increase fuel pressure, add longtubes and 2.5" duals.

The cone filter will suck hot air, which isn't as dense as cold air, resulting in less air in the cylinder for the same stroke. You might want to consider the dual snorkel or cold-air intake with K&N filters. Bypassing the TB coolant passage will also keep the intake air cooler.

I forgot to add that to my list. I am running 2.25" dual on my truck now along with MSD wires and soon coil.
When I swapped in the TPI I did not use the TB coolant passage. So that is not an issue either.

Put in some lower rear gears (bigger number!). That would be a great bang for your buck. You would definately feel the improvement in acceleration! However, it doesn't technically improve any power output from you engine.

A torque converter is very cheap torque. Go to about 2400-2600, and you'll definitely feel it off the line. I also think rear gears are a great way to manipulate your power for the money.
Other than that, port out the TPI. A good job done with care can result in pretty nice gains, and even elongate the powerband slightly.

Actually I have already done gears and torque converter.
My application is a 1985 GMC Jimmy 4x4 that I am using for offroad driving. I swapped in TPI for the power gains, and the ability to run at any angle. Not to mention it looks really cool. (I have seen a friend with TPI run his Blazer on its side)
I am running 4.56 gears to compensate for my 35" tires, and I have had my trans rebuilt with a 1400 stall converter for rockcrawling.
I basically need to find any torque gains in the motor itself as the rest of the drivetrain is where I want it to be.
I appreciate the tips though. Here are a couple pics of my project.

Thanks for any tips

Port the intake. Match it to the heads. Port match every transition possible. The stock TPI needs a good port and it'll breathe alot better!
