305 TPI w/ LT-1 cam???

my 1986 305 TPI is a TURD at the track with a 15.9 @ 85.45 MPH (1/4 mile). that is with SLP runners, Hooker cat-back, and K&N filters. i am geting a new posi for the 10-bolt, which may help the 2.2 sec. 60'.

WHAT SHOULD I SEE WITH THIS SET UP???

ALSO WHAT SHOULD I SEE WITH THE SAME MODS AND A LT1 CAM, DOES IT FIT, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO???

I wouldn't expect too much more. IMO the cam is not worth the work or money to install it in a 305. Spend the money on a Nitrous kit, and you will see better gains. The cam will increase power a bit, but you are still getting choked off by the heads, and even the small bore of the motor. A cam is only good if your engine can make efficient use of all the extra air/fuel it will bring in. Plus if you have the stock intake and exhaust manifolds your getting choked off even more...Remeber-Airflow makes power.

I am getting a GM crate motor that is the one just like the newer one with the Vortec heads, but instead has the cast "regular" heads, and is rated at 30hp less than the 330hp Vortec headed version. Anyways, its nothing special, but I also have a LT1 that is gonna go in our '36 Chevy, so that means a nice cam is gonna be put in there. Would the LT1 cam go well in my motor? By the time I will get the cam, I will have some good headers, ported everything for the intake, be burnin my own PROMS, blah blah

a good cam on a 86 305 tpi will bring your 0-60 down .9 , that is a good gain , also port and polish your heads , my 86 305 tpi transam is at the mechanics getting made fast , i am installing a comp extreme energy #256 212-218 449-456 112lsa also porting and polishing the 416 heads and adding bigger 1.94 intake valves , already got a cai, stock exhaust until next year
by the way my car only has 30 000 original miles , i will let you no in a week or so how my car runs
