zz4 cam and stock chip

I was wanting to know if the zz4 cam and springs will work with the stock 350 chip? I searched the archives and really couldnt find what I need to know. Will it idle ok and will it have any drivabilty issues. Its going in a 89 camaro 5.7 tpi with mass airflow and adjustable fuel regulator. I know mass airflow is more forgivening than speed density. Any help would be great. Thanks

used it in my car. it ran fine with a stock 87 GTA chip. idle was a little rough. i smoothed it out by playing with the MAF TABLE 1. click the green banner to see my results.

yea, it will work fine, but like said, the idle will be a little off. Also, make sure to install screw in studs.

Rough idle due to the cam (good) or due to the tune/chip? (bad).

...The ZZ4 cam should be a little rough, right?

I have a friend with a SUPER great deal for me on a ZZ4 cam, that's why I'm interested.

My idle jumps from around 700-900 rpm until it is completly warm, then it is smooth. Just driving around it is smooth all around. I don't mind it. This can be smoothed out with advanced timing but i ran into knock so i just live with a funny idle. Its really not that bad. A custom chip would solve all problems though. Good cam, go for it.

How much did the cam help? Horse power and or quarter mile.

I run a ZZ4 cam on a very mild rebuild. I had the heads worked and compression bumped up to 10.5:1. I also used some LS1 injectors. With just the injector constant changed my car would barely start even on the MAF setup. After some tuning it idles like stock.

What kind of quarter mile can a stock heads/tune zz4 cam L98 see? 13.9? I would really want to tune it for the cam, seems like you're leaving good power on the table. You got a great deal on the cam, so spend a little on a tune - you'll thank yourself.
