Code 32-what might be cause of this?
I own a 1991 Chevy Camaro Z28 with a stock 350 tuned port injected motor. It has 87,000 miles on it. I am currently experiencing driveability issues. Every time I travel on the highway at 65 mph the SES light comes on and stays on until I shut the car off. It has a rough idle at a stand still and on take off it feels somewhat sluggish. I am also hearing a rattle on the passenger side and its the converter on the right side (dual converter setup) that has blown. This is my fourth cat that I am going to replace again. It also has a bad exhaust smell coming out of the tailpipe when I am going up a steep grade along the highway or at an idle. It also seems to idle high even after it has reached operating temp. I have taken this car to two different shops, and between these two they replaced the EGR solenoid and connector; all fuel injectors were replaced-two injectors read low ohms; new OEM fuel pressure regulator, new oxygen sensor, new coolant temp sensor and a complet tune-up. Replaced spark plug wires, spark plugs, dist. cap and rotor. Evidently, they didn't solve the problem, so I have decided to take matters into my own hands, and find the problem myself. I purchased a code scanner at my local auto parts store and put it on the came up with a Code 32. What could be causing it to flash this code? Where should I start looking? Oh boy I really want to get to this problem solved. Any of your suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Code 32 is for your EGR valve. IT could be the valve or something as simple as a vacuum hose having a leak....OR....Your plenum or runner that the EGR valve uses is built up with carbon.....I would take off the plenum/runners and look where the EGR valve flows back into the plenum....it's probably built up with black carbon.....Then, if you havent already, go ahead and replace the EGR valve while you have access to it. Hope this helps...........

I have the Auto X-Ray EZ-Scan 6000, I ordered it through Advance Auto. Will handle OBDI from 82 - 95 and OBDII through the present on both foreign and domestic cars. It goes for around $700 + tax. Self-powered and has a computer interface cable.
Reading the Code 32 chart. The first step of the diagnostic procedure states "...check ported vacuum source to EGR solenoid should have at least 24 kPa (7" HG) @ 2,000 RPM." What do they mean? Should I the car be on? If so how do I apply vacuum? Where can I can purchase a tool that applies vacuum?

Yes the engine should be running at 2000 rpm. The vacuum will be generated by the engine running, you just need to measue it with a vacuum gauge. You can buy a vacuum gage at almost any auto parts store and at wal-mart's
Thank you for responding. I'll see if I can purchase those tools tomorrow. By the way, do I need a multi-meter voltage tool to measure all the sensors? I have Crafstman Brand Multimeter. I don't know what model it is, though.
