Hot start problem...prom/tuning related..
Now that the weather is warmer...the bird starts and runs fine until its hot.(ECT > 160). I have 180 stat.
Plugs, wires and distributor have less than 2 K miles. All vacuum lines are new.
What happens if its hot and I shut it off, it doesn't want to start--it turns over, but then stalls-- with my custom prom or ARAP.bin tune. I have the moates switcher and if I switch back to stock it starts right up. I have also noticed the infamous surging idle when hot too.
I checked the bins..they are pretty close with the exception of fan turn ons and and some minor timing (I pulled some timing from ARAP.bin).
Could it be "start up spark advance vs. coolant temp" table?
I haven't hooked up the scanning computer, but maybe someone has some tips..
My only guess besides the prom settings is that the stock bin may be more forgiving to older gas (went through a tank or two over the winter)...

For this type of problem I would data log both instances. Then compare the two logs concentrating on the PW, SA & IAC counts. There will probably be a difference noted someplace.
