the computer is bad in my maro where can i get one and are any others interchangeable

well my dad and i have figured out that the computer is bad and thats whats making my car run bad. its an 85 z28 with the 305 tpi. where can i find one and are any other cars got one i can interchange with? my dad says as long as the numbers on the gm computer are the same it will work.

That is correct as long as you also match up the computer chip inside it. If the chip inside your old computer is good, just swap it over. Be careful handling that chip or you could ruin it. Make sure you ground yourself to get rid of any static electricity in your body before touching the chip.

You can pick one up at Checker auto etc. I dont think they are very expensive. Getting one from another car is OK if you match numbers. You might even find one on ebay.

ok i got anther computer and swaped that in and the check engine light is on but it runs perfect.

If you haven't already done this, disconnect the battery for about five minutes to clear any stored codes. Then re-connect it and take it for a test drive to see if the codes come back.
