what type of MAP sensor do the SD cars use?
I want a new MAP sensor for my z and need to know a little more about MAP sensors before I buy.First off, what does BAR 1 2 and 3 mean and what is the diff between these diff bar MAP sensors? Anyone know what a MAP cost from the dealer? I dont want autozone crap.

Its a 1 bar map sensor. Its a reference to air pressure, so it wont read boost. Thats where the 2 bar and 3 bar map sensors are used, with the right computer.
I dunno what the dealer is charging these days, but probably not cheap. Might want to find a place that carries AC Del... errr... Delphi.

1 bar Map sensor is used for N/A applications. It reads from 30inhg to 0inhg (vaccum) which is the most a N/A engine will ever need. 2 and 3 Bar MAP sensors are used with boosted applications, they read both vaccum and boost. 2 bar will read up to 14.5psi and the 3 Bar Map sensor will read up to 29 psi. I've sometimes seen these values rounded up to 15psi and 30psi. So the right one for you depends on if you're N/A or boosted, and how much boost you run. The 730 ECM found in the Speed Density TPI cars comes with a 1 bar sensor stock. The 749 ECM from Syclone/Typhoons (or 730 ECM modified to 749 pinout w/ $58 code chip) comes with a 2 bar sensor, but can also run a 3 bar sensor. Not to sure on the retail prices sorry, but should not be more than $100, and I've seen any of the above go for $25 on Ebay. Part numbers and more information can be found on the DIY EFI website. (great link to bookmark hehe)
