My Iroc(an 85)will not hold idle on some days after I start it and will never hold it for the rest of the drive, I have to hold the gas while I drive or it will die and turnoff on me. I get to where I am going and I come back and I start the car and this time it holds idle just fine, I don't have to drive with 2 feet(its an automatic). It switches from day to day, hour to hour and so on. What the hell? I have done a few things and to no avil. I have read the codes but nothing there. What are all your thoughts on this because it is driving me insane. Thanks in advance.

 

what have u done to try to cure the problem so far? id check the MAF, Fuel pressure regulator, injectors etc... maybe you arent getting enuff fuel? if thats not the problem, maybe u arent getting enuff spark. let us know!

 

I have changed the MAF, I have put on a new OEM fuel regulator, I have upgraded to a "hi-po"coil. I thought that maybe my MAF was low, I checkedthe codes and it was, so I just bought a new one and was done with it. A couple of days later it came back, this time no readings. Its just odd that it will do it sometimes then it will not.
