good cam for L98 TPI?

Just want to solicite an opinion on CompCams CS268AH-14.

268/278, 222/226 @ 50, .464/.464
114 seperation

350, stock TPI, L98 aluminum heads, shorty headers, T5 tranny, 3.73 gears, Monte Carlo SS, diy prom (MAP system)

I want to know if I'll be happy with this cam's behaviour on a 350 w/TPI? My gut feel is that it's too big. I like my motors to have great torque off-idle. I'm not into racing, just like to cruise around and blast from stop lights and such.

Thanks. Suggestions for alternate non-roller cams appreciated as well.

IMHO that cam is to big for a stock TPI. Did your 350 block come with a roller cam because the cam you quoted looks like a flat tappet cam? I would call comp cams for the recomendation. I would think you need to back off the duration about 10 degrees. Allen

Yes, it's a flat tappet cam I quoted. My engine block is not setup for roller cam.

Thanks for the suggestion and opinion.

I think the one I want might be something like the XE256H-12. 212/218 .449/.456 112 (flat tappet)

The first cam is a bit much for a stock engine, the second one would work well.
