recent code 34

yep code 34. using tpi swappers guide charts i diagnosed the maf sensor as being bad. This is a new sensor though, probably 5 months ago. The car still drives fine with this code. The check engine light turns on about 2 seconds after startup, telling me that the sensor isn't getting enough air at startup. Since the car drives fine, could i just change the programming so that code 34 doesn't set?
