i just bought an 85 T/A with a TPI 305. The problem: the motor has a radical idle. it goes from 900rs to 400 then back up then it stalls. When I put it into gear it stalls. But it revs up like normal. It does the up down thing all through the rpm range. I cant seem to figure it out. and it sux cuz i really want to drive this car. any help would greatly be appreciated. Could be a faulty IAC, or one of the IAC control parameters...TPS, CTS, etc...do a search for IAC and see what pops up.
Could also be an indication of a MAF issue, disconnect the electrical connection on the underside of the MAF and see if it smooths out...lots of possibilities and a "search" will yeild a lot of results.
