Problem: Repair body or swap TPI drivetrain into TBI car?
I have a quote of $3000 to repair my body (hail damage) and repaint, if I supply my own hood (3" Cowl - $400 +shipping). So basically $3500 for body work and paint (changing to another color [black]).
There is a 88 Iroc w/ a good body (hardtop) and just a few dents that is a TBI 305 car. Guy wants $1600 for it. I thought it would be a better deal to buy that car and swap everything from my Iroc into it until I read about the fuel pump/gas lines etc that had to be swapped on top of the wiring harness and motor/tranny. That is alot of work and I don't have the time to do all of that (6 month old son), so I would probably pay somebody to do it.
Since I don't have the time, a shop will either repair my car or have my mechanic do the TBI to TPI swap for me. Considering the labor prices...would I be better of just fixing my car's body instead of a swap?
Please give me ya'll's opinions, I need to figure out something this weekend before I go back to work next week.

Stick to the car you know. Even though you're putting all of your stuff into it, you're still buying into another car's problems. At least you know your car, you'll be able to get a color you really want, and it'd be a shame to lose a good Z28 (nothing against IROC's, I swear!)
