153 tooth is what should have come in your car.

You can change your flexplate to a larger racing type flexpalte offered on ebay. But for it to work you will need a mini starter or a starter that has dual mounting hole options to accomadate for the larger diameter flexplate. Believe me changing to one of these will save you some aggravation and frustration in the future. The stock flexplate has a very nasty reputation for cracking around where the bolt holes are. Mine cracked all the way around full circle. The flexplate I bought was a Scat same people that make the Scat Crankshafts.

Go to ebaymotors and do a search for Scat Flexplates and you won't be sorry.

automatic transmissions use a "Flexplate".

Manual Transmissions use a "Flywheel".

Good luck with your swap!

fly wheel

If your getting jegs or summit just get any 153 tooth flywheel that is SFI approved and the plate will be twice as thick as the factory one. I busted mine twice in one year when I got a a 24 to 2600 stall being pushed with a stroker shatters a stocker. The stock plate looks 1/16th thick and any SFI approved is going to be atleast 1/8th thick and probably a stronger metal as well.
