Anyone here use a TPI with the factory dual filter air cleaner assembly on a car with the 82/83 factory SMC hood? On my 84 (which was converted to TPI by the previous owner) there was no provision on the underside of the hood for the TPI air cleaner to come over the top of the rad support...so he used a sledgehammer to clearance the bottom of the hood...which of course looks like crap.

I'm planning to pick up an 83 Z28 SMC hood, but I'm wondering if I'm going to have the same issue with clearance for the air cleaner assembly that the steel hood has.

here is what my stock steel 84 hood looks like, complete with sledgehammer clearance job. An 85-up hood has a smooth recess in this area to clear the air cleaner housing.

What I'm trying to find out is what the 82/83 SMC hood looks like in this area, and if anyone has actually used it with a TPI air cleaner....
