Fuel pump connection or relay or ???

I have been having problems with an 85 Camaro with the 305 TPI just dying for no reason. If I let the car sit for about an hour it will start up and run fine for a few minutes then die again In the mean time the fuel pump will only prime about once out of every three turns of the ignition switch. The car seemed to be doing the same thing that it did when the fuel pump died about ten years ago, so I Replaced my fuel pump this morning and it is still doing the same thing it was doing before I replaced it. (At least I have repeatability) I am wondering if this would be a bad fuel pump relay, a bad connection at the fuel pump (I was told to solder the pins to the receptacles) or ???. Does anyone have any suggestions or had this same problem??? I am at my wits end and any help would be appreciated.

Are you getting any codes on the SES light? When was the last time you replaced your fuel filter and what kind of fuel pressure are you getting when you prime the pump? BTW, the fuel pump is not supposed to prime every time you turn the key.

No codes on the SES light?
Replaced your fuel filter as a precautionary last week-end
50 PSI when I prime the pump.

also just before the car dies the tach will jump around and the car seems to backfire or misfire.

I have also been having problems with my spark plugs fuel fouling and the car seems to run rich.

when I start the car it seems to smoke and I have been told that people can smell gas as I pull away.

The fuel pump relay is on order I will have it tomarrow.

While I was at it I checked the resistance in the injectors to make sure they were good, they all fell between 12.2 - 12.4 ohms so I am assuming they are ok.

Usually 10 OHM's or less you can kiss them goodbye. 12 OHM's is still in the ballpark but getting low.

Fuel pump relay didn't do it, car still acts like it has been. My suspicions are that the plugs are fuel fouled again. the car acts like it is flooding out. i am going to pull a plug and see what it looks like. The fuel pump is out of my realm of being subject because it seemed to prime fine tonight.
