How do you check if the knock sensor is working?

My scanner does not detect any knock but at WOT I can hear something, how do I determine if my knock sensor is working?

Thanks

1.Get a timing light
2. get a pipe or metal wrench
while motor is idling knock on the motor or block as soon as you make a metal to metal knock or clank you should visibly notice that your timing mark pulls back considerably.

If it isnt working properly your going to tear your motor up. especially if your making considerably more power than stock.
I replaced many head gaskets before I found a bad knock sensor to be at fault.
