Change MAF to Speed Density

Ive recently sold my 1985 305 TPI/700R4 combo to my mate to go in his 34 Ford HotRod.I thought it would be easy to buy a Painless Wiring Kit to fit this but they tell me that it fits all except for the 85 Model TPI!!!
So i thought i could go for Holley Commander 950 like ive got in my TA now,but holley tells me it will not work with MAF and i would need to convert to Speed Density.
Whats involved in doing this??
cheers

I'm sure doing a search would help you. You will need an ECM from a 90-92 Camaro. Number 7730 and a speed density wiring harness (Painless 90-92, get the longer harness) or make your own. You will aslo need to make sure you have the right memcal with the ECM. You'll need to get a map sensor as well. You will have to change your knock sensor to a model 92 camaro 5.7 liter one. It uses a different ohms setup than the 85 one. The harness will fit the HSR setup. Thats for starters. If I forgot something, someone else can add to it. Been awhile since I did it.

Thanks for that Capt.but i was thinking of using the Holley ECU with their wiring harness.
Am I correct in assuming that the commander 950 does not use a knock sensor?I cant remember having one on the new system in my TA

Upgrading to SD for a Holley 950 is a matter of Removing the MAF sensor adding a MAP sensor. I think the MAP sensor, 02sensor and MAT sensor come with the holley 950. Go here this will help out a little https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...=commander+950
