TPI mechanical temperature gage
I really want to use a mechanical temperature gage on my motor. I can’t seem to fine a left over hole anywhere. There seems to be a sensor in every hole. The gage I am trying to use is an Autometer mechanical.
If anyone has used a mechanical type temperature gage could you please tell me where you plumbed in the sensor?

Since my motor is newer I don't know if this is the same, but the water temp sender in the driver side head only sends to the gauge so I'd imagine you can put it there. Again, since my motor and all the stuff not related to the TPI is from '95 it might not be the same, but its worth a shot.

Yea the sensor on the drivers side head between the 1st and 3rd exhaust primary is the one for the stock temp gauge. So you can remove that and put your new one in there.

Thanks
Thanks for the information, I will try and find that spot first thing in the morning. It must be hiding just below the exost manifold.

You could use the coolant drain plug above the oil pan seal on the drivers side (the one on the passenger side has the knock sensor in it). It's 3/8" NPT..
