New BBK 58mm TB :).....Problems :(

ok i just recieved a used bkk 58mm tb and its nice but i hooked it real quick so i could start my car and i have a horrible whining coming from the blades when i cup my hand over it the sound quiets down some but this sound is hoirrible!!!! any idea what the sound is caused by and how to fix it?

also, the new 58mm doesnt have the same suction it seems as my old stocker. wheni cupped my hand over this one i barely felt any suction as with my 48mm it used to pull hard on my palm...

58mm is way to big for a 305.The stock ones can handle like 500 hp.I would put the stocker back on.

yes thank you.....i traded a stock tb and some cash for this 58. i didnt buy a 58 specifically for this engine (it will go one my new one....about 500 hp) and i didnt really post about that, not being a jerk but

i need to fix this whining and am curious why it is so bad. and i cant wait to actually drive the car, i want to see if this massive tb on the little 305 will greatly hurt my low end like ive heard

Its possible that the blades were messed with. Check to see if there is too much space between the blades and the TB. Also, are all the vacuum line and coolant lines hooked up to the TB? There is a small tube underneath the TB. I believe its for the egr hook up. If left open the tubes will suck air.

I have one too...i think it sounds good. it is 1000cfm compared to the 750cfm or whatever stock is...
..did you put your filter box back on? it quiets it down quite a bit.

I managed to get mine on when I had the BBK, but it was hard to do. You can try a different elbow setup like mine but you probably won't want to spend the money for it.

just lube it up. it's a tight fit, but it WILL go on.

It'll fit, its just difficult. I dont think making cuts was such a good idea, might want to keep an eye on those.

As for the noise, I think a lot of it comes from the IAC passage. Try cleaning it up on the BBK, it should be better. I smoothed out the whole front of mine so I have no clue how bad it would have been, but I had heard plenty of stories and the one I have isnt that bad. And dont clean off that gray stuff on the back of the throttle plates Would have been nice if they were real vocal about that one instead of including a single piece of paper about it in the box... well, thats if it ever gets put into the box.

The IAC passage on my BBK was very loud. It worked fine and like yours and once warmed up it became quite. You can set your IAC so that at normal idle the IAC valve is barely open and it will be less annoying.

The stock bellows will fit, it's just tight and you really have to want it on there.

i think ill be okay with the noise, as soon as the 383 is built you wont hear it anymore.....

ill keep everyone posted about gettin that damn bellow on!

oh and this used and i dont have any grey matter on my blades...should i?

According to BBK, yes. I think its just some sort of epoxy type paint, and apparently it only needs to be around the outside edge. I had problems with the throttle sticking open only with the car running and when I sent it back thats what they said the problem was. They asked why I took the paint off when the note in the box says not to, well... there was no note in my box.

If you dont have problems like that, then dont worry about it.

No, but I got it straight out of their mouth when I asked what was wrong with the TB. It came back with paint on the blades, and its working fine now. Try it yourself, easy to do.
