Title pretty much says it all!

The exhaust smell is awful- reminds me of the situation I had when I put in new (bigger) injectors and didn't modify the chip. Problem was solved once I chaned the constant.

The car is an'89 (mass air). The cam is basically mild but the lift is significantly higher than stock.

I don't know about drivability yet (tomorrow) so this could be the subject of another post.

**update**
I posted this on another forum and am getting some great feedback. Can anybody here help? I chose this cam because it was supposed to do well with the stock program, by all accounts!
Specs:
208/221 dur @ .050" lift
.474"/.510" lift
112 lobe sep.

IROC,
It looks like your set-up may be a little better breathing than mine and could possibly help.
I'm glad it's working out for you.
Which scanning software are you running?

I swapped in a ZZ4 cam this summer. I also added headers and exhaust, and had a valve job.

Everything else is bone stock. The car started right up, and ran so well, I didn't tune it for a day or two. I ended up timing it to about 10 degrees advanced. I don't know that it doesnt run just as good as with the stock cam, but it does sound a bit rougher...which is cool!

I'm gonna have it dyno tuned soon, but it runs GREAT now, I just want to pull all the power out of it that I can.

I know what you mean about "rougher". My stock exhaust sounds lower and more "muscle carish". Funny how such a small change could affect it so much.
Continued success! Post the dyno results? When are you going?

hehe...well the newfound power blew the trans. I did have 170,000 miles so I can't complain. I just got the new one in, but it re-arranged my budget a bit !

....I'm hoping to have it dyno tuned by the end of the year, but I'm not holding my breath. I make a trip up north to see the family for turkey day and of course Christmas so that takes cash out of my "extra money" budget.

I'll make a new post when I get it done.

Thinking of putting the ZZ4 in my '89. How did the swap go? Not looking forward to pulling it apart, but I've got new heads and valve train to put on anyhow, so I figured I'd throw a cam in to.

You guys did it with the engine in, right? (Took the radiators out, etc?)

Oh, and about the rich question - scan it and see where your trim is, then do some tuning. You'll probably have to pull some flow out of the MAF tables (1 and 2, I'd guess).

The swap went rather well, albeit a lot slower than I thought, mainly due to the fact that nearly EVERYTHING has to come out before you get to the little stick in the middle!
Mangus, when you say "pull some flow out" what exactly does this mean in newbie-speak?
I'm having trouble enough getting a cable that'll work made!

Getting your tune right will likely require a chip re-burn, and the main modification will likely be to your MAF tables. Your MAF tables are respondible for controlling how much fuel gets delivered at a given airflow value. Its how fuel deliver is controlled on a MAF setup.

See the DIY-PROM forum for more info.
