why does my timing change?
I reset the timing on my 86 Iroc 305 TPI about two months ago and when I checked it this morning it had advanced way off the tab. This time I followed the directions and bypassed the computer (disconnected the brown wire with black stripe). What is the chance it will change again on me?
I will also mention that for a while I was getting a code 32 EGR malfunction...although it's been a couple weeks since I've had it. I know I shouldn't reset my timing with active trouble codes...could this code be affecting my timing?
Also, does anyone know a fast way of checking the condition of your EGR valve without removing the entire intake plenum?

If you set it last time w/o unhooking the ECM then it was way off this time b/c the computer changes the timing contantly based on RPM and load...
