Who has a painless TPI harness (I do). Where is the "set timing" wire?
Hi guys, I have a MAF TPI setup on a 69 327 using the Painless MAF harness. If you have a Painless SD harness you will still be able to answer my question. Where is the wire you disconnect so you can set the baseline timing? I know the Painless harness relocates relays that are normally underhood in the passenger compartment, so I don't remember if this little plug in blade-style disconnect is in the pass compartment now or under the hood. If its under the hood, it must be somewhere close to where the wires come out of the firewall, no? I covered all my wiring with looms after my conversion install a few weeks ago, and now I have to access the disconnect so I can verify the timing.
I only need to know the location of this wire for a Painless harness, the factory location is likely different from what I have.
Thanks!

Mine is about a foot from the ECM where the relay section comes off of the harness. It is the wire that is brown with a black tracer.
Attached is a picture of where it is on my harness. (Don't mind all of the other wiring)

Thanks guys! Especially thanks to eric for the photo, this caused my "aha!" moment. I know where the disconnect is now. For some reason I was expecting a blade disconnect (like the cheezy "weather proof" ones I used on my 4 wire o2), not the huge GM weatherpak disconnect. I confused meself with all this newfangled wiring.
