Fuel Pump Stays on when the car is off ?!
Ok I did a search I think I narrowed it down but I will explain my situation and take some of your suggestions. Ok I have a 87 IROC 5.7 TPI now when I turn off my car the fuel pump will remain on even after the key is out the ignition. So I opened the hood and unplugged the battery once I did that of course the pump went off.
Now when I plug the battery back in I hear something click on and then it sounds like something is filling up and yes the pump is on when this is all happening. I was told that the fuel pump relay maybe stuck and keeping the fuel pump on. I was also told that there could be a loose ground somewhere. So any suggestions or do these seem to be logical oh yes the car does start up and run too. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at the wire diagram and get an ohmmeter. Just FYI, the oil pressure switch one item that controls the fuel pump, if it thinks your pressure is high when your car is off it will turn the pump on. You may want to look into that.

Hmmmm looks easy to reach I am leaning towards the oil pressure switch cause the fuel pump relay has already been changed like 2 weeks ago. Has anyone changed the oil pressure switch is it a easy task ?

IT is really easy if you pull the distributor out since it is right behind it and behind the oil pressure sender.

The one I had looks different than that one.
Mine had 2 spade ends on it, same type of ends that are on the bell style oil pressure sender (sender only has one spade edn on it).
I've got one in the garage and I'll post a pic of it tomorrow.

UPDATE!!!
Ok I changed the oil pressure switch still the same problem the pump still stood on. Next step bought a fuel pump relay changed that still stood on. Took it to a mechanic I know he opened the hood and to the left of where the battery was he opened up something with a fuse in it. Once he took out the fuse the noise stopped
. But it seems the car needs that fuse or it wont start anyone have any suggestions ?

Bad ECM or a jumper in the ALDL connector, or a short under the dash near the ALDL would be my guesses.

The ALDL connector is the connector on the bottom right underside of the drivers side dash. This is where you plug in a scanner or jumper the connections to read the SES codes or turn on the fuel pump.
