ok ok this is getting a lil annoying, my car fires then dies, now i have checked the fuel pump relay and i know it works cuz the fuel pump works, the MAF relays seem to work, they click when i try to turn on the car. my car flashes a code 31 with in the book says it could be a map sensor, but my 87 iroc doesnt have one, only a MAF so i would be left to believe its the MAF?? now i have also put in a B&M mega shifter and a code 31 can also mean a neutral safety switch malfuntion. now would a MAF or safety neutral switch malfunction cause the car to not start?? an alternate scenario that i was given was that my fuel pump wasnt giving the engine enough fuel, as in it was dieing. the fuel pump sounds strong when i turn the key to run, and it does pressurize the lines, but i guess i should check my fuel pressure even tho i dont think that it is what is wrong. where is the best place to hook up a fuel pressure tester? and if anyones has any good ideas anyhelp would be awesome i wanna be back on the road

 

looking at a site im confused it says for an 87 there shouldnt be a code 31
but looking at a generic code section for gm
code 31 means
park/neutral switch
cam sensor circuit
EGR circuit (88-90)
MAP sensor (shorted)

 

do our cars have a fuel pressure test valve?
