L31 heads, some Questions

Will the stock manifolds bolt right up to the vortec heads or do i have to do some custom work?

Also can i slap them on my 305 or is the combustion chamber much to big?

Thanks
Pat

The vortecs use the "stock" 6 bolt manifold pattern. I know in the 80's some manifolds used the 7th bolt, they won't work since there is no 7th bolt hole in the Vortec heads. The ports will line up regardless though, same exhaust port location as all other SBC's. Believe the difference in the manifolds is the above plug style log manifold won't fit, all the ones that aren't log style will.

From my understanding the combustion chamber of the 350 Vortecs (64CC) is bigger than the 305's, which were (universally?) 58CC. Supposedly there were 305 Vortecs, not sure on that though.

I've been running stock manifolds for over a year now without that last bolt towards the rear of the passenger side head (this is on my e-tecs).. Just make sure you use a good gasket and torque the rest of the bolts evenly...
