ignition

the other day I was idleing at a stop sign and the motor just died. today after testing everything it came out to be the coil. I went and bought a new one and put it in, the motor ran in the drive way fine. then I went to drive it and as soon as a got around the block it stalled. wouldnt start, so instantly i guessed it was the coil and went and replaced it. then went i put the second new one in this time it started up and about 3 seconds later it died right out and wouldnt start again. this tells me that something is making the coil go bad. I would like to know if anyone has had a problem similar or would know how to go about testing to stop the coil from going bad.

anyone with answers please help thanks alot.

I've seen many times where the ignition module inside the distributer cap goes bad when it gets hot. this will cause no signal to the coil and it won't fire, making you think it is the coil. replace the ignition module and the pickup coil.
