would this work for my car?

i might score an air intake for a good price. its from slp for camaro/firebird 90-92 air intake but i have a 89 firebird, slp also makes them for 89's slp intake well would the 90-92 fit my motor? there both for L98's right?

I think the only difference will be the 90-92 will not have provisions for the MAF. If that is the case, you would have to modify it somewhat to fit the sensor in your application.

Yep, you'd make your car a boat anchor.

But if you really want to ditch it you can switch over to SD. Several ppl on this site have done that.

MAF= Mass Air Flow

You cannot just ditch the MAF in your application as stated above. The ECM needs that sensor to know what the density of the incoming air is in order to make the proper fueling calculations. You can switch out to a later style ECM that uses speed density with a MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) but this involves not only swapping out ECM's but also a wiring harness. You can re-pin your wiring harness to retrofit, but it is not something I would recommend for somebody who does not feel comfortable with looking at wiring diagrams.
