Corvette TPI VS Firebird TPI 88-96
What is the main differences between these 2 TPI motors is the vette motor better than the firebirds in these years. And does the ZR1 have the TPI set up or LT1. what years did they start the LT1 in the Vette?

Well, to begin the vette had alluminum heads with D-shaped exhaust ports. I believe they also had a slightly more aggressive cam (could be wrong) and the solenoid in the transmission was different. Because of the different heads, the chip was slightly more agressive as well.
Not too sure bout the ZR1 - if memory serves me correctly it used an LT5. In 1992, the corvette used the LT1

The ZR1 (LT5) was a totally different engine. It was a joint venture between GM and Lotus. It was an all aluminum DOHC engine (4 cams) had 16 injectors, and no common engine parts with a SBC. Totally different engine, and extremely expensive. The long blocks went for $24,000 from GM. Not worth it for the 405hp they made. THat is why they stopped making the ZR1
