Disassembling thrttle body
Hey guys; I know the general response may be to not disassemble the throttle body, but I could have sworn I saw somewhere instructions how to take it apart. I need to know because I'm painting mine and would like to take it all apart because it would be a lot easier. I know there's a way to do it but I can't find it and the board archives aren't working. Can someone help me? Thanks!

Well,
u should seriously plan on getting the TB service kit from the dealer.
It contains new tb to plenum gasket and the gasket for the top plate that says tpi and also the coolant crossover on the bottom.
Its a little expensive sob though like 15$ or so lol
need to do a search and find the part number. Any compitent dealer parts person should be abel to find it for you.
Then u can dissassemble your tb and remove all the sensors and paint away.

Thanks but the TB is already apart as far as sensors and the top/bottom plates go. I need to know how to remove the throttle blades, the rod they screw to, and the pieces on the end (the one the cable goes to and the one that has the tang to move the TPS). Thanks!

I just took the top and bottom plates off and bead blasted the whole setup. Cleaned the glass beads real well. Covered all the freash clean aluninum with masking tape real good. Primered the shaft ends and painted it. When the masking tape was removed it looked awesome!

I had to grind the end of the throttle shaft flush with the tab to remove it (the tab with the tang on it for the TPS,) then drill and tap it for a screw & washer to retain it when putting it back together, just make sure that you count the turns it takes to unwind the spring so your throttle will feel the same as before. I think there's 1, or 2 o-rings on the shaft to keep air from leaking in.
