Code 33 and 42
Last night I heard a slight rattle sound coming from the engine which I thought was a knock of some sort. Today I ran the codes and got a code 33 and a code 42. Could you tell me the things I should start to check first, The MAF is fairly new and the wire looks to be in great shape. Thanks alot.

One of the wires going into the ignition coil is exposed but it is not touching anything metal, could this be the cause? Also I noticed a small wire with a single metal tip that is unplugged kinda looks like the tips on the IAC connector it is on the passenger side coming from under the exhaust manifold any ideas what that is?

Code 42 is the EST. Make sure that your EST bypass is hooked up, this is what would be causing the "knock". Check concestions at the ESC module to make sure everything is right. Make sure your base timing is right.
Code 33, see my "Code 33 Here to Stay?" post. I posted what I have found.
