Fuel Injector Retaining Clips
WELL . . . I got the top end of the TPI off. Was easy. Took off the bolts to the fuel rail. Was not so easy. Now the fuel rail won't come out. I managed to pop one injuector up and wouldn't you know, gas came gushing out, all over my cut knuckles. That was fun.
So here's my query:
It appears that the guys that put the engine together didn't see it fit to tie those pesky injectors down with any retaining clips. Ha! Go figure.
Now I have the Accel 30 pounders and there's a little insert in the box which informs me that I should place the RETAINING CLIP on at a certain place on the injector. But, funny thing, I HAVE NO SUCH CLIPS!
Do I need them?
The few times that I turned the car on (with the clip-less injectors) nothing seemed to be wrong. By the way, the Accel injectors are the pintle type and the 22 pounders that are in the car now are not. Does that make any difference with regard to the need for retaining clips?

Go to your local Chevy or Pontiac Dealer and ask for
ACDelco (ACD#) 17111267
They only come in like 5 to a pack but they should be able to get them for you if they don't have them in stock

I guess they're the ones. I'll try the local dealer. I'm still not sure if I need them though.
