[B] I would say with great traction, mid 15s to low 15s can be had. Give it a try, and post your times. Dont get discouraged if you pull a mid 16 first time out. Get some "base line" runs, and then search the board, and try some of the cheap TPI mods, and take it from there. Youll be amazed and how much time you can knock off your ET with some minor tweaks.

I'LL GIVE YOU ONE QUARTER MILE TIME. 14.09 AT 103MPH.

IT WAS MY CAR NOT COMING OUT OF 2ND GEAR WITH A 700R4 AND 2.73'S. NEEDLESS TO SAY, A DEPRESSING TRIP. FORGOT THE OPEN REAR END TOO. I THINK THAT WAS A GOOD THING THOUGH, SPINNING PAST THE 100 FT MARK PROBABLY KEPT ME FROM BLOWIN THE MOTOR.

My cars is bone stock and my first run was a 16.2 with a horrible 2.5 60ft. My second run was a 16.7 with a 2.7 60ft. If you can get a decent launch (2.0 or better) and for every tenth knocked off of the 60ft= .2 in the 1/4. My car is capable of a 15.2. And that's with crappy 2.73 gears.

And if you want dyno, I got that to 187whp and 265wtq.

I had an '87 iroc, 305 tpi, auto, 2.73s

my runs were as follows:
15.319 @ 89.36 ... 2.211 60'
15.317 @ 89.79 ... 2.272 60'
15.254 @ 89.30 ... 2.121 60'
15.223 @ 89.57 ... 2.153 60'
16.249 @ 89.86 ... 3.191 60' < I got nervous and launched retardedly
15.158 @ 89.76 ... 2.175 60'

This was on 3/18/05 temp was probably mid 50s-60s. All at atco.
On 3/22/05, temp same, at atco:

15.106 @ 90.63 ... 2.177 60'
15.092 @ 60.71 ... 2.181 60'
15.003 @ 90.90 ... 2.123 60'
15.070 @ 90.38 ... 2.118 60'
14.984 @ 89.73 ... 2.067 60'
15.177 @ 90.67 ... 2.270 60'
15.038 @ 90.51 ... 2.125 60'
15.085 @ 90.81 ... 2.203 60'
15.034 @ 90.61 ... 2.107 60'
14.969 @ 90.61 ... 2.067 60'

60' makes the difference in each run, try and get traction or you won't run well. its obvious in my 60' s where i was focused on the race, and when i was focused on what was next to me. dont worry about who is next to you...do a small burnout, spin em around once or twice to clear the water off, (if street tires), dont heat em too much or you will get worse traction because instead of being sticky they get greasy. my best idea for launch would be to either flash the converter, without bringing it to any stall speed, or launch at about 1100. dont hammer it right away either, give yourself a 2 count to have it to the floor. or say to yourself hippotamus, and at the end of the word you should be at the floor. after that, i press as hard as i possibly can to get the most out of it, and i dont let off until i know im well past the finish line. good luck man.

oh by the way, along with my auto/2.73/305 combo...i had a broken cat (not gutted, just the brick was lose), and a serious loss of compression due to an exhaust leak/bad valve guides. once again good luck.

Sell the engine to a TBi guy. Say to them "just think what an L98 cam will do to this thing."

only problem with that is the lack of an upper intake. everything else is there...you should see the **** that was underneath the plenum. holy ***. I think i may take the heads off, rebuild em, and sell the heads...i believe theyre the good LB9 heads.

My old 87 350 TPI with 200K+ on it ran a best of 14.2 @ 95
3.27 gears, SLP torque convertor, B&M shift kit, Flowmaster exhaust, gutted air box, descreened MAF. Everything else was stock. 1.97 60 ft
at Lebanon Valley in NY

The same engine, with a T5 and SD'730 conversion ran a best of 14.3 @ 95 1.98 60 ft
ATCO

My current car
14.78@92 350, 2800 stall convertor, 2.77 gears, SLP headers, Flowmaster muffler, factory aluminum driveshaft. That was when I first got it. 2.1 60 ft
I swapped to 3.27 gears, bunch of other mods: holley 52 MM TB, adjustable FPR, spohn control arms and pan hard, SD '730 conversion w/SAUJP.bin, 24# SVO injectors.
virtually no change best of 14.70 @ 92 w/ 2.01 60 ft
transmission needs to be rebuilt though since it started slipping the 2-3 shift.. and was not shifting unless i let off the gas.

theres soemthing else wrong...with those mods you should be at low 14s if not high 13s. im sure a custom chip would be a good idea...you may want to check and make sure you dont have a vacuum leak or something of that sort somewhere...it doesnt add up.

15.07 in my L98 car with the mods in the sig. Also that was with a DA of over 5200ft and 2.5 60ft times and without the headers and y-pipe

No leaks. The transmission is getting replaced shortly, and then I'll start custom tuning the PROM. It's got a "custom" chip right now, the SAUJP, I converted to speed density and have everythign for PROM burning. But with the transmission being pretty much junk it's hard to get anything right.

A stock 305 tpi with auto? I'll bet there's not one in the world that ran better than a mid 15. Most ran high 15's. The best a 305 could ever do with the better cam, a manual trans AND in brand spankin new condition was a 15.1 with actual verifiable tests by car and driver or motortrend. For the guy saying he can cut 2.0 60's on a stock LB9 with crappy gears and loss of compression, i'm calling total BS.

would you like me to send you via email every one of my time slips with the ticket from atco of each night?

i dont appreciate my credibility being called into question, and i would post the slips on here but they're too big when scanned, and downsizing only causes the print on them to become damn near invisible, which i dont want because then you will call bs again.

i could send you my heads in their current condition right now, but thatd cost you some serious money just to verify that im telling the truth.

Very possible, I cut a 2.07 on the worst tires your ever going to see and a stock L98 car. Im also new to racing so 2.0 is no big deal.

When i think stock, i think factory. Are you saying that every aspect of that car is how it came from the factory? No better plug wires? No more free flowing air filter? MAF sensor with screens? Sorry, but I just can't believe that any auto 305, especially one of the early years, could run a 14 anything stock.

there is exhaust on the car. with the problems i was experiencing...id say they cancel out the exhaust. therefore...id call it stock.

All right, you may have a factory freak on your hands. I think it's safe to say, though, that most LB9 auto 2.73 camaros would be running a high 15/ low 16.
