Vats

Hey guys not a camaro or bird guy but I am installing a TPI in my 94 s-10 and have some questions for you smart TPI guys
1 I just purchased a 1227730 ecm it is out of a 3.1 grand am, what do I have to do to it to make it work (do i just have to get a V-8 MEMCAL and a prom from a bird or camaro?)
2 On terminal F10 of the ecm(VATS) what type of signal does the computer look for Is it a ground or a voltage value?
3 I am using my s-10 harness , just repinning the harness to work with the 1227730 ecm there is no vats module so do I even need to worry about the terminal F10 If I just use the factory prom??
4 To get around the VATS do I have to get a custom prom?
5 Does anybody have what I need?(Prom or Memcal??)
I have really done my homework on this swap, I have got almost everything figured out except this last thing. I just joined this site cause you guys really no your crap and i found myself surfing your site more than the s-10 sites. Sorry I am not a camaro guy I have always liked trucks. However i did once own a 84 z28 with a 355 double bump motor! Anyways any replies would be greatly appreciated
Please help!!!!
Jeff

the vats computer looks for a certain resistance that it gets from the (chip) or resistor in the origional key. The ECM looks for the signal from the vats computer bofore it will start the car. I dont know exactly what the vats computer is sending to the ECM. It would be interesting to know.

vats

I have a vats eliminator module that I am going to take out because I am puting in a custom computer. E-mail me at james.monk@mchsi.com and I'll send it to you for $20. It sends a pulsed ground to the vats circut in the computer or you can have prom reprogrammed by Speed Scene wiring for 75. All that rewiring seems a waste when a new custom harness is only 450 dollars away.

Thats Life

The module is 50 bucks new
