Growing noise exhaust on TPI

I have a 1992 formula with a 350 TPI with 94,000 miles on it.

I have a growling noise coming from the exhuast mainly on start up. If you shut it down then start it up the noise is not there.

I remember while working on something else the noise also sounded like it was coming near the TPI in engine compartment??

The muffler and tail pipe is new just put in today. Had the shop check the cats. They were good. Nothing sounded loose

Being new to TPI set up figured this would be a place that might help me find out what going on.

Thank you in advance.

Note car is stock. Just brought it a few days ago

I apologize but I don't recall what a growing sound is. Maybe I haven't seen enough of the misses lately..

Kidding aside, can you describe the noise and its origin any better? Growling may be a small animal stuck in your fender for all we know. At least you've eliminated the exhaust.

Growling

Sounds like a grinding. Metal on metal contact. For only for maybe 20 seconds. I hate those problems that only happen once in a while.

Try checking your airtubes on the back pass side of the engine and the check valves for the AIR system.

Might be loose on the back of the head or one of the check valves is rattling cause its broken.
