Code 34

Any suggestions on what to look for on a code 34. I think it's MAF problem but i am not totally sure. And what will a cade 34 cause the car to do?

Code 34 deals with the MAF sensor (low voltage). I had a code 34, I replaced both the MAF power relay and Burnoff relay and it fixed it. Start with the small stuff before you go and buy a MAF sensor.

The first thing my book tells me is to look for a blockage/leak in between the TB and MAF sensor. Might want to try that too. My code 34 caused a terrible idle, and a really rich condition (blew grey smoke just at idle).

This is probably a bit late, but I've been dealing with a Code 34 for the past year. I would only see the SES light at start up and if I let the engine idle for a minute, shut it off and re-start after about 30 seconds, the SES light would go away. However, this wouldn't happen everytime.

Anyway, I took the advice from this site and just bought a Power / Burn Off Relay, installed it today and I haven't seen the SES light since. For about $20 it was a cheap thing to try.

Good Luck

PS IROCThe5.7L, your car looks sweet. Mine looks just like it, except I've got t-tops.

Replace the two relays. I paid about $13.00 each @ the dealer. Even the GM manual says if you get a code 34 do not assume a MAF problem. Its more common for the relays to freeze, especially on vehicles that sit for the winter. Alot cheaper at $26.00 to!
