Maximum Shift RPMS
Me and my friend went out yesterday and he was practicing launching his car from stop, and I noticed he was shifting at 4k rpms in every gear, he told me that was where the tpi cars power making limit was. I told him that a tpi 350 make power to around 5k-5500 he told me that any higher ould strain the engine, so we try launching the car at 3500rpms and then shift into 2nd @ 4200 rpms next all of a sudden it starts making a ticking noise. he told me he over revved his motor, i had gave him destrutive infomation and that all tpi motors make low end torque and are better motors for trucks and not mid to top end. he told me his car starts running out of breath at around 3800-4000 rpms. I told him he was wrong.

Factory shift point on an Automatic TPI vette is 5,200 RPM. I have the governor from one and it shifts at 5,200.
no...a TPI is a TPI....so all of them should redline real close to 5200...i don't see that he did anything wrong, and the ticking is just coincidental and has nothin to do with not shifting at the wrong time...tell him sh*t happens...isn't a 3500 rpm launch gotta tough on a t-5 tranny? thats something i'd never do thats for sure..
