Selecting Parts
I have been planning on doing a rebuild to my L98 and i need help. I need to decide what is more cost effective, rebuilding the L98 or doing a stock LT1 swap into her. I myself have no knowledge on rebuilding motors. So i was wondering if anyone could chime in and give me some reccomendations on what to do. Im looking for a 300-350 preferably HP motor. Stock LT1's are near 300 and im not sure what ll would be needed to get the L98 up to 350. I can get the LT1 installed for 3K $$ so thats about what i would want to spend on a rebuild if thats better.
So the questions are do i get new heads and cam? Get the existing heads and intake ported? Obviously get headers. New intake manifold? I know new stuff is going to cost me a pretty pennie so i wasnt sure if i had the stock stuff machined if it would flow enough to get these gains. Im sure i would need to get a new cam for this set up if i do. What cam should i get? And what kind of internals should i get? SHould i go all forged? Thanks for any help, i am a newb at motor internals for sure and anything to do with a rebuild im clue less.

You do not need forged internals inless you are going to be using NOS or install a supercharger. If you rebuild the engine yourself get a bigger cam, port the heads yourself or find a cheap set somewhere and buy the LT1 intake I think you could get over 300HP and stay under $3000.
