Fuel Pump suggestions
I have done a search and really found nothing specific to what I am wondering. What FP do you recommend and which to avoid.
As it seems my FP has stopped running I am going to check the FP relay (hopfully thats it, although it still clicks when I turn the car on. If not it I am doing the Fuel Pump Swap this weekend.
I DO NOT WANT INFO HOW TO CHANGE IT.
I did notice however that some people have problems with some brands of Fuel Pumps. WELBRO is one that seems to whine. Is there any Fuel Pump that you swear by as being great and others that are junk.
Should I go with a GM one? I figure the OEM one lasted 200,000 miles, as that was the milage of the car I got my TPI off of.
I have a basically stock engine for all intents and purposes.
Thanks
John

Do not buy a fuel pump from any local parts store. Only use an orginal fuel pump from the dealer or a Walbro. I as well as many people on this board have Walbro and they are very good.

use either a AC delco pump, or a walbro.
somepeople say the walbro makes more noise then stock.. ive never noticed it on the 255 pumps..
but like you said, you have a stock car, so might as well get a stock AC delco pump.
DONT get the cheapie whatever they have at the store.
and get a AC delco fuel "sock"... not a cheapie.

Ok, So a Delco it is thanks.
BTW, I have found part numbers 10094701 for the Relay and 25116163 for the Pump, does that sound correct?

Thanks guys, I just wanted someone to hold my hand.
I got a Delco FP, Delco strainer, Delco Filter and a Delco Relay. I figured I will cover both ends I can't go wrong
. I guess for $100.23 it ain't bad... I am not looking forward to it tho
.
Like I needed a good project.

if you're running a aftermarket pump, or have a modded motor, thats not a bad idea... you do get alot of voltage drop with the stock setup.... but for a mostly stock car, its overkill and a waste of money.

what issues have you had with the Walbro? one of the reasons i love thoes pumps is that i know of NOONE who has had one fail, except by their own fault (guy didnt put the sock on it, and it ingested alot of rust)...
the only complaint i know of is that they whine

Here is my setup:
Chevy 312 (305 .040 over)
9.5:1 Compression
Holley AFPR
SLP Mild Cam Part # 51002, Duration: Int 258 Exh 264, Dur @ .050: Int. .206 Exh. .212, Lift Int. .480 Exh. .487, Centerline 112
SLP Ceramic coated Headers & 3" SLP Cat back
1 3/4" oversized runners
About it.
I think the stock one will do me well enough... I would like to hit 14 sec 1/4... but we will see when I start programming again.
