fuel pressure woes
I just got done swapping out the fuel filter, fuel pump relay, fuel pump is going on 2 years old, I also put in a TPiS afpr 2 years ago. With the ignition on its not priming up the fuel rail, makes for difficult starting. When I turn the key from off to run I can hear the pump engage for about 2 seconds but yet I still have 0 psi at the rail. Once the car is started the pressure is up 45psi without the vacume line. With the vacume line hooked up it reads around 38-39 psi. When I get on the throttle it will jump up to around 44 psi then when I get off the throttle it will go down to about 36psi for a few seconds then back up to 38/39. Im just baffled as to why it doesnt prime the rail with the ignition on I can hear the pump try to prime for a couple seconds. Does this sound like normal pressures? I checked the fuses in the fuse box there is no fuse for the F/P ctrl, no brass terminals even in there for a fuse. So I presume it uses the INJ2 F/P fuse and it looks like a perfect 20amp fuse. Im not real sure as to what to try next.

Ok I just put 12 volts to terminal G on the ALDL and fuel pump kicked on, read about 0 psi at the rail. I then pinched the return line and it shot up to a lil over 40psi. I took the air duct work off and open up the throttle blades to see if I could hear an injector leaking and didnt hear any hissing or anything of the nature. So this leads me to beleive its the fuel pressure regulator diaphram?

heh allright i guess i answered my own questions. I poped off the fuel pressure regulator this afternoon and found a nice little suprise. There was a little chunk of what apeared to be a orange peice of plastic sitting in the bowl underneeth the regulator. Slapped the new one in it anyway while I had it apart and seemed to fix the fuel pressure issue. Now I can go back to hunting down the code 44.
