TPI died when we drove it (MSD related)
so we tooled around with the 88 Formula 350 tonight
as she drove it to the garage she said it was idling rough and died on her.
i thought it was the ECM resetting itself
since we havent used the car and did some electrical work
we went to go for a blast tonight
and i was mashing the pedal, the tach would go crazy up to 3k then to zero.
then the car dies, out of power
in the darkest of roads and no flashlight, i like dammit
turns out the msd wire for the msd box came off the coil
dammit
only took 3 mins to get it back on luckily
it's the msd adaptor wire kit
i must have moved it around when i was working on the car
anyway, does anyone know the fix for the tach with an msd box going crazy?
on my 79 TA, i had to take the tach wire and mount it on the msd tach output, and it was fine after that
does anyone know what the tach wire color is or where it is on the 3rd gens?

i am really impressed at the low-mid power of this car, considering there is not massive work done to it internally.
can't wait to see what the straight pipe and cold air box adds to it.

Its the tach filter. Its behind the distributor, I'm not totally sure the color of the wire, but it has a "grey" plastic connector.
First try running a wire from the tach connector, thats on the right side of the ignition box, to the tach filter, when you find it, near the firewall. I did this and it worked, but, only for a while. Then I had to add an MSD Tach Adapter, and it cured the problem. MSD tech should be able to help you out.
